The only thing worse than getting the entire contents of your car jacked by a band of thieves? Getting the entire contents of your car jacked by a band of thieves … moments after the thieves in question ran your car off the highway.

This exercise in Murphy’s Law was an unfortunate reality for one unlucky Los Angeles motorist, who found his car dented and burgled during a drive down the highway.

“Hey, stay there!” a person behind the camera can be heard yelling towards the driver, standing on the shoulder with his hands in the air, as a car full of thieves pillaged the vehicle before heading back in their car and speeding away.

But it appears the contents of the driver’s vehicle weren’t the only thing the robbers had taken. Upon taking a closer look at the thieves' getaway car, several eagle-eyed Redditors noticed a strange detail — its license plate. Though the burglars may have rolled up in a white Chevy, their license plate was associated with an entirely different vehicle.

“They're swapped,” Redditor u/xTye wrote alongside a screengrab from a license plate identifying app. “Those belong to a Corolla.”

Hey, at least the driver can rest assured that he’s not alone.
